I Support Selfies Because You Don't

I'm not gonna use other people's selfies for this,
so have a doodle instead
Let me preface this article by saying, I don't like taking selfies. Not because I think it's an arrogant or prideful thing to do--an obvious thing because of this article's title- it's simply because it's not my thing, and that's okay. What is not okay, is how people seem to demonize this generally harmless hobby just because they don't like the 'latest' trend.

There are many articles claiming that science has proven that selfies are "not attractive". The question I would like to ask is, what's the point of those scientific researches? What's the point of proving that research subjects tend to not like selfies beside to tear down other people's confidence and boosting the elitists' sense of self importance?

If those people were to focus on blackface-selfies or other type of racist carricatures in those articles, it would be more valuable because it IS a social issue. Selfie as a general isn't a sign of the degradation of moral, though. If you think about it, before cellphones and cameras exist, a lot of people who could afford a painter stood for hours just to get their portraits. Wouldn't those people be more self-absorbed than the selfie-lovers nowadays?

Let people have their fun!
